Île-de-France is a region of France. Its capital is Paris. 11.5 million people live in the region, 2.1 million of those in the city proper.[when?]

The departments in the region are Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-d'Oise, Val-de-Marne, and Yvelines.
