Arbil (also written Erbil or Irbil) is an Iraqi city and the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. In Kurdish, the city is called Hewlêr. 1,190,251 people live there, mostly Kurds and Arabs. The city is 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of Mosul.
