Babek or Babak is a rayon of Azerbaijan. It is in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It surrounds but does not include Nakhchivan City. It used to be named Nakhchivan. The current name is for Babak Khorramdin. Khorramdin led a 23 year long uprising against the Abbasid Caliphate in Iran.
