Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is a 2009 movie directed by Werner Herzog and has Nicolas Cage playing a bad lieutenant who bullies people, abuses heroin, painkillers and cocaine and is corrupt on many levels. The movie is similar to but neither a sequel nor remake for Abel Ferrara's 1992 classic movie Bad Lieutenant, which starred Harvey Keitel as a nameless police lieutenant. The 1992 movie was rated NC-17, whereas the 2009 movie received an R rating. Also starring in the 2009 movie is Eva Mendes; she plays the lieutenant's girlfriend.
