Bessarabia

Bessarabia is the word for the area in Eastern Europe between Romania and Ukraine. Is bordered by the Dniester River on the east and the Prut River on the west. It was an part of Romania most of the first half on 20th century. Soviet occupied its surface after 1944. The most areas of Bessarabia today belong to the Republic of Moldova.
