Brookings is a city in Brookings County, South Dakota, United States. The population of Brookings was 22,056 in 2010. The mayor of Brookings is Tim Reed. Brookings was founded in 1883. The city of Brookings was named after a pioneer promoter called Wilmot Wood Brookings.
