Centi-

Centi- is a prefix added to words for measurements, like "meter". When added, it makes the word mean one hundredth of the original word. A centimeter is one hundredth of a meter. It takes one hundred centimeters to make a meter. This prefix is from a Latin word, centum, which means "hundred". The prefix is part of the metric system.
