Charles Weedon Westover (or Del Shannon; December 30, 1934 – February 8, 1990) was an American rock and roll singer and musician.[1] He had several popular songs, including "Runaway" in 1961.[2]

Del Shannon was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan.[3] He shot himself dead with his rifle at age fifty-five in Santa Clarita, California.[3] He was cremated.[4]
