Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a serious condition involving insulin resistance. Sugar tends to build up in the blood. The condition usually develops in adults over 40, although children, young adults and teenagers can develop this condition. People that are overweight or obese have increased chances for developing Type 2, although thin people can develop it too. This condition is usually controlled through diet and exercise, though on rare occasions artificial insulin may be used. Between 60 and 80 percent of diabetic people have Type 2.
