El Llano (in English, The Plain) is a Dominican municipality in the Elías Piña Province. It has a total area of 104.49 km².

Population[change]
The municipality had, in 2010, a total population of 8,344: 4,394 men and 3,950 women. The urban population was 42.95% of the total population. In this numbers are included the population of the municipal district Guanito. The population of El Llano without its municipal district was 4,193.[2]
History[change]
El Llano was elevated to the category of municipality by the law 687 of 2 July 1974. Before that date, it was part of Comendador.[3]
Economy[change]
The main economic activity of the municipality is agriculture, and rice is the main crop.
