An electric multiple unit or EMU for short, is a type multiple unit train consisting of many carriages using electricity as the motive power.

EMU trains are generally used on rapid transit lines, such as the Singapore MRT and the Melbourne rail network. As a result of this, EMU's usually lack features such as toilets, on-board food and comfy seats.
