Simple English Wiktionary has a dictionary definition (word meaning) for:
A chemical element is a pure chemical substance consisting of one type of atom distinguished by its atomic number, which is the number of protons contain within its nucleus, and is unable to be reduced any further without a nuclear reaction taking place, though these processes typically emit enormous amounts of radiation that can result in anything from mild irritations to death. The term is also used by scientists and scholars to refer to a pure chemical substance composed of atoms with the same number of protons.
Element can also mean:
- chemical element - a substance that cannot be divided into smaller chemical parts (Hydrogen, for example).

- A book by Euclid called Euclid's Elements. In it, Euclid talks about geometry.
