Summary

Description
English: Brazilianite
Locality: Conselheiro Pena, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil (Locality at mindat.org)
A truly outstanding miniature from THE best and most important find for the species in terms of overall quality, now some 60 years ago. They were brought out by dealer Martin Ehrmann in the 1940s and remain to this day the standard by which contemporary brazilianites are held up to. This is a perfect miniature, complete all around and with breath-taking color and lustre. It is transparent around the edges , and translucent through the thick center. The smaller sidecar crystal is the point via which the larger crystal must have attached to matrix because although that sidecar crystal is contacted, the major crystal is not only pristine but is complete all around (even the bottom) ! This find is recounted in interesting detail in the excellent book by Dr. Peter Bancroft Gem and Crystal Treasures on pages 201-205. 4.4 x 3.5 x 3 cm
