Summary

Description
English: Orlando Petty in his dress uniform. He received the Medal of Honor for saving a wounded Marine after an enemy explosive and gas shell attack on his field dressing station at Lucy, France, on June 11, 1918. The U.S. Navy Medal of Honor ("Tiffany Cross" pattern) is on the far left. Immediately to its left he wears the Distinguished Service Cross (U.S. Army), the Croix de guerre with bronze palm (French Republic), the WWI Victory Medal with three battle clasps and finally the Membership Badge for the General Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The latter badge's wear on an active duty officer's uniform would be in contravention of military uniform regulations. The photograph was therefore likely taken once Petty had left active service.
