The Florida Panthers are an ice hockey team that plays in the NHL. They play in Sunrise, Florida at the BB&T Center. They were named for the Florida panther, a type of cougar that is considered an endangered species.
The Panthers have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals once in 1996 when they were swept by the Colorado Avalanche in four games.
