The North American Ford Escort was a car produced by Ford Motor Company from 1981 to 2003. Its successor, the Focus, was released in 2000. The first generation was made from model years 1981 to 1990. The second generation was made from model years 1991 to 1996. The third generation was made from model years 1997 to 2002. While the Focus came for the 2000 model year, the Escort continued for rental and fleet sales until 2002. The ZX2 was the coupe version launched for the 1998 model year and replaced the Probe in the line-up. It was facelifted for 2003 and then it was discontinued after just a single model year.
