George Willis

George Willis, MD JP (1828-1898) was a British medical doctor and politician.[1]

Early life[change | change source]

Willis was born in County Cavan, Ireland. He earned his medical degree at the University of Glasgow in 1850.[2]

He was the elder brother of Dr. William Willis[1] who taught medicine at the University of Tokyo and founded the medical school at the University of Kagoshima.[3]

Career[change | change source]

He was one of the founders of the Monmouth Hospital and Dispensary at Monmouth in Wales.[2]

He was three times elected mayor of Monmouth.[2]
