- This article is about a religious holiday. There is another article on the Belfast Agreement, also called the Good Friday Agreement, a peace agreement that was signed in Northern Ireland in 1998.
Good Friday is a holy day that Christians celebrate on the Friday before Easter. It is a special day because it remembers Jesus. All Christians believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world, therefore this day is called Good Friday. The event happened nearly two thousand years ago on the Calvary, near Jerusalem, and his death on the cross, which is painful because nails are used to put him on the cross, is known as the crucifixion.
Special prayer services are often held on this day with readings from the Gospel accounts of the events leading up to the crucifixion. Major Christian churches say that Christ's crucifixion as a voluntary act, which he did on behalf of everyone who believes in him, and also one by which, along with resurrection on the third day, death itself was conquered.
It is well known however that: 1. We never wanted to be crucified as he was running away from it and went into hiding and when sold out, he said about him to never been born. So Jesus did not have a choice. 2. His legs were not broken, as was the custom, so he could have lasted longer. If the legs are broken, the death comes fast 3. He was on the cross for a few hours not three days as they say. So good chance that he could still be alive at the end. 4. When brought down, one of he Jew guard poked him and blood and water gushed out and that proves that Jesus was still alive as death man do not bleed. 5. When he was on the cross, he said to God, "Oh God, why have you forsaken me" Was he talking to himself? No, which means he also believed in one God 6. If God did have a Son, Why would he kill his innocent son for so many sinful people? Why would he want a son? If God want to forgive, why does he need a reason.
