The Guinness Book of World Records is a book published annually detailing the remarkable things of that people attempt, like eating a onion in the shortest time possible, or lifting a car, or even throwing a washing machine. This book details other types of records too. It was first published in 1955 after the managing director of Guinness beer company wondered what the fastest game bird was while on a hunting trip.
