Heart transplant

This picture shows where the new heart is placed.

A heart transplant is a type of surgery where someone's heart is removed and another one is put in because theirs is not working properly. The new heart is taken from a dead person who does not need it any more. The first heart transplant on a human was done by Christiaan Barnard in December 1967.^[1]
