Michael Joseph Pennington (born 5 September 1970), known as Johnny Vegas, is an English actor and comedian. He is known for his Lancashire accent, his angry rants, surreal humour, portly figure and high husky voice

He became famous for his role as Geoff Maltby aka "The Oracle" in the ITV sitcom Benidorm (2007–2009, 2015–2017). His style comedy include: and support of St Helens rugby league club.

Vegas was born in St Helens, Lancashire, England. He was married to Catherine "Kitty" Donnelly from 2002 until they divorced in 2008.[1] He married Irish columnist Maia Dunphy in 2011 in Seville, Spain.[2]

He is a Christian, having returned to religion after having lapsed during adolescence.[3] He continues to live in his home town of St Helens, and has been outspoken about the pride he takes in it; he is well known for being active in supporting the local community.[4][5]
