Magherafelt is a small town in Northern Ireland, in the United Kingdom.

On 29 April 2001 the United Kingdom government had a census and found that there were 8,372 people living in Magherafelt. They also found that:
- 27.1% of people living in Magherafelt were less than 16 years old and 13.7% were over 60 years old
- 48.7% were male and 51.3% were female
- 56.2% were from a Roman Catholic background and 41.8% were from a Protestant background
