Pratibha Patil (Marathi: प्रतिभा पाटील, born December 19, 1934) was the 12th President of India. She is the first woman to hold this post. She was sworn into the nation's top office on July 25, 2007 by the Chief Justice of India K. G. Balakrishnan. She succeeds Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
