Ralph Gustav Dahrendorf, Baron Dahrendorf, KBE, FBA (1 May 1929 – 17 June 2009) was a German-British sociologist, philosopher, political scientist and liberal politician.

Dahrendorf was born in Hamburg, Germany. He studied at Hamburg University and at the London School of Economics.

Dahrendorf was a member of the House of the Lords from July 1993 to June 2009.

Dahrendorf died in Cologne, Germany, aged 80, on 17 June 2009, after suffering from cancer.[1]
