Richard Wilson, OBE (born Iain Carmichael Wilson; 9 July 1936) is an Scottish actor, theatre director and broadcaster. He is best known for playing Victor Meldrew in the popular BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave from 1990 until 2000. He also appeared in the BBC drama Merlin as Gaius, the court physician of Camelot.

Wilson was born on 9 July 1936 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.[1] He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In March 2013, Wilson came out as gay.[2]
