The STG–44, known as the world's first assault rifle, was developed in Germany during the Second World War. Hitler first did not approve of this new class of weapons, so it had to be tested under the name of MP, or Machine Pistol (in English). Once a first prototype was made, it was tested in front of Hitler, and to make a long story short, he was dazzled and ordered them to make more.[source?]
