The space bar, also called the 'spacebar' or 'space key', is one of the most commonly used keys on a computer keyboard and can be found at the bottom of most standard keyboard layouts, such as the QWERTY keyboard. The space bar is wider than all of the other keys on the keyboard. When the mouse cursor is in a text box, this key adds a space in between words, for example when typing. On many computers, pressing the space bar at the same time as the ALT or CTRL keys can activate many useful functions, such as minimizing windows; this depends on the operating system and the hardware that is being used. In most web browsers, scrolling down can be done pressing the space key.
