The Spiny Dogfish

The Spiny Dogfish Shark, also known as Spiny Dogfish, is a very common shark. It is used by people for food, fertilizer, leather hide, and pet food. It is also studied in research labs more than any other shark. Spiny dogfish sharks live mostly on the bottom in temperate or subarctic waters. They are dark gray with white spots and white bellies. Spiny dogfish sharks eat fish, squid, and octopus. They are called dogfish sharks because, like some blue sharks, they hunt and travel in packs. They are also called dogfish sharks because, like dogs, they are very common.[1]
