Suwa Province

Suwa Prefecture (諏方国, Suwa-no kuni) is an old province in the area of Nagano Prefecture on the island of Honshū.[1] The history of the province started in 721 and ended in 731.

Suwa Province was created during the reign of Empress Genshō.[2]

According to Shoku Nihongi, Suwa only lasted for ten years after it was established in 721.
