POV and OR[change source]

There is grammatical errors like; "Due to the Islamic invasion many peoples which originate from the present day Arab states where Arabized." and POV "Arabs are one of the world largest ethnic group and have influenced a lot of other languages and culture." Many POV issues and tends not to focus on 'Arab' goes to detail to fast while the other version is better since its more NPOV.. --Yegoyan 23:57, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually nothing here is from my personal view and anyway I did change the Intro, thanks--Simenged 07:18, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Complex[change source]

Tossing in complexity as well to the list of issues here. Linking many of the terms used is needed. In some cases a change of wording would fix it. Semitic, ethnic group, Arabian peninsula, invasion, originate, arabized, identity, revival minorities.. that is just the opening paragraph. -- Creol(talk) 00:13, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I notice that but I did change the Intro so I removed the tag--Simenged 07:18, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One of the problems is that the newer version still included many terms that needed linking to allow them to be better understood (cultural and linquistic in the opening sentence). Defining Arabs as a Semitic ethnic group is probably the best opening defintion, but it just needed to be linked to articles describing the terms. I went through and copyedited/simplified/linked most of the opening to clean up much of the issues I saw there.
I also repositioned the statements about Iran and Turkey after the section on Arab world countries as they are not a part of that. One question dealing with that though is "Why?". They are not a part of the Arab world. Their languages are... Are they not a part because of the languages? This would be easily fixed by just adding "This is because" to the start of the sentence "Their languages are..". If it is due to other reasons, those should be listed in that paragraph. -- Creol(talk) 08:02, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The intro needs still to be cleaned up, the intro says Arabs are the name for the a Semitic ethnic groups where in another line it says Arabs is not a race and trying to maxim that Arabs a nationality like american with diffrant races involved. --Simenged 10:03, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if I can change the picture mosaic[change source]

Title says it all, I have another mosaic proposed but I don't know how all of the licensing works.PacificWarrior101 (talk) 02:59, 1 November 2013 (UTC)PacificWarrior101[reply]

Where is it uploaded to? Is it on Commons? Osiris (talk) 03:12, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No I haven't made it yet, and uploading things to Commons confuses me because of all the licensing info and that stuff.PacificWarrior101 (talk) 04:39, 4 November 2013 (UTC)PacificWarrior101[reply]

Well, you'll have to specify the licenses no matter what project you upload it to. You can't upload image files to the Simple English Wikipedia, but if you upload it to Commons then we can use it here. Have a look at the file page for the mosaic file we're currently using, and use that as a guide. Presuming your mosaic will be composed of images that are already on Commons, all you have to do is copy the license template on each of the individual file pages, and that is your licensing information done. So, for example, the current mosaic is made of eight images; one of them is a photograph of Asmahan. On its file information page, the license template is {{PD-Egypt}}. So that's one of the eight license templates in the mosaic's licensing information. If you need any more help, let me know. Osiris (talk) 11:08, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. I don't think I like the change after all. The fact that there are so many images, all with captions, makes them very small and not as illustrative as the previous collage. If we were to change it to this sort of format, then I think the number of images should be reduced and the selection based somewhat on which individuals we have quality articles for. Osiris (talk) 00:26, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia people also changed theirs, adding like 20 Arabs, unlike the ones I chosen they were a bunch of Arab monarchs and unimportant to the Arab World (simply as a whole). They even included a picture of a monarch who wasn't even Arab (Queen of Sheba who was black Ethiopian, she's only Arab in pan-Islamic and pan-Arab sources) They tried adding one prominent member from each of the 22 Arab states, one representative for each but some Arab states are really "ethnically" Arab like Somalia or Djibouti.

I can increase the size of the images if you'd like. PacificWarrior101 (talk) 07:47, 23 November 2013 (UTC)PacificWarrior101[reply]

But I followed a slightly different format than Wikipedia, rather I included a few pre-Islamic ancient Arabs instead of just one (Philip the Arab), some medieval Islamic Arabs, singers, famous politicians and overseas Arabs (Ralph Nader [Arab American] and Carlos Ghosn [Arab Brazilian] both are fluent Arabic speakers). Yeah but now the infobox is over 300 pixels wide... Osiris (talk) 08:30, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well? How about reducing it to nine images? Osiris (talk) 06:52, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
