Remember that this assignment asked you to find scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. The bulk of these sources are books for children, which do not fall into that category. Please review en:Wikipedia:Verifiability and en:Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources for help. Yeah. Some children's books may be appropriate sources for example for "X was presented as Y in Z book", but in general it shouldn't be presented as a reliable source. sonia♫ 09:15, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Revisions[change source]

To update this page I plan on including more history notes and listing different Barbie's throughout the decades. I would also like to remove the heading sexism, since I do not think it necessarily applies to the information following it. Pictures from the Children's Museum exhibit and of other Barbie dolls will also enhance the site. Jsollowa

A history section sounds like a good idea, but try to avoid a list of Barbies. What else are you planning to add? You will have to be careful about adding Barbie images because they are under copyright. We can only add one and claim fair use - we can show you how to do this. Unfortunately, an image uploaded under fair use won't be possible on this wiki. Simple English Wikipedia does not allow images to be uploaded directly to this project. Self image (possible change)[change source]

In your self image are you speak of the "bad" and even though i agree with everything, there should probably be something in there about some good self image. Copy edits[change source]

The first thing i noticed is in your origins section: i would make "immigrants" a link because some people/children may not know what immigrants are, so make it to were they could click on it to find out what it is. Also the word "copyrighted" may need a link or at leasted explaind what that means. In the 1960's: explain what/who a first lady is.

Domesticated gender roles may not be understood in your spin off section. also i think there was a car that barbie had that you could add in this part.

Other than that I think your page is great, very informational and clear. I cant find anything else wrong, but i'll be glad to keep looking over it if you add more. (LRNJEOZ (talk) 00:35, 22 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Suggestions for improvement from Awadewit[change source]

Here are some suggestions for improvement:

The "Origins" section needs to be written as a more coherent narrative. Give some more background on Handler, for example. Also, paragraphs should be more than one sentence long and all quotes should be attributed in the text.
Remember that you need to give citations for the information you are adding. Many of the sections have no citations - be sure to add them.
Many of your paragraphs are long lists of facts - try to make them little stories instead. It will make them easier to read.
Be sure to make it clear when you are writing that Barbie is just a doll. At times, the writing sounds as if she is a person.
The "lead" or beginning section of the article needs to be a summary of the article.

I still have not perfected the art of referencing. Some books are listed twice in the bibliography section. Does it list them every time I use the book as a reference? If that's the case I'll end up with 20+ repeats.
