If you need information about chilean religion, I can help you.
I'm from Chile (if my english is bad, excuse me, I speak spanish). About the religión, Chile has "libertad de culto" (liberty of religion, in chile not exist a religion official), however exist a mayoriti on catholics, and de catholic church is a important institution in this country and plays important rolls in defense of human rights (derechos humanos) in time of pinochet's militar regimen. Existing important minoritys protestant, and few hebrew and moslims. Alberto Hurtado is a saint very leved in Chile, and exist a representation lecal of the virvin mery, "la virgen del carmen" (the virgin of carmen".
the religion in chile (and in south america) has elements christians and indians. In this mode, exist a importan party in the north of chile: "la virgen de la tirana" (the virgin of La Tirana). This party is a festival, and the people dance disguised in honour of the virgin: but this festival is originated in the ritual dance of aborigenes fron Atacama desert, and the spaniard conquestor transform the festival.

Education[change source]

"Chile has one of the best school systems in South America." Is this a joke? Nevertheless, PISA of OECD says so --Penarc 22:16, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indian or Native History of Chile. Original Inhabitants of Chile, South America.[change source]

My name is Miguel Angelo Bobadilla age30 and my parents are from chile, I have never met my father. And have no relatives. My mother told me her village was wiped out. And that she escaped to Canada. My father went to australia ? Anyways, I was born in Thompson, Manitoba in 1977. My mother admits to knowing "quechua" and speaks little spanish, she has however learned english after living here for over 30 years. My mother absolutely refuses to teach me or my sister anything about the culture of chile. She wants us to assimilate.I have been forced to learn about my culture and history from books. I actually havn't even met anyone from chile. I have always felt connected or comfortable with american indians or native americans. I have been told I look like full blooded indian. Through pictures, i notice chileans are not dark at all, like mexicans. So what is the aboriginal culture of chile, was it aztec or maya or incan? and what is quchua? I now Live in Minneapolis, MN
