I see there's been some question of how to briefly describe "discrete". The current version is correct, but "sampled data" probably doesn't say much to anyone who doesn't already know what "discrete" means. It could be described as "a list of numbers instead of a smooth curve", although it's hard for me to say if that would be more descriptive to someone who wasn't already familiar with the concept.
