Getting rid of the bullet-lists?[change source]

Would it be possible to simply state that there are 14/15 churches that form the Eastern Orthodox communion of Churches (or whatever that is called), and move the listing of these Churches to a List? --Eptalon (talk) 14:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

+1 Thanks for suggesting that, Eptalon. That makes sense to me. This bullet list is incomplete, anyway. See: en:w:List of Orthodox churches. The English Wikipedia article called Eastern Orthodox Church just links to the list page -- called List of Orthodox Churches -- in the See also section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msannakoval (talkcontribs)
You are a little late; yes we got rid of the list of red-links. Currently, we mention a selection of 10 "Eastern Orthodox Churches", all of which are blue-linked. I am aware that some categories are rather broad ("Old Believers" come in at least two variants, for example). If I remember correctly, the discussion of whether to use the Julian calendar ("Old Calendarist") rather than the (revised) Gregorian one is still current in many chueches. Lastly, I don't know to what extent the two monastic communities listed are "independent". This is not my field of study, and all I really wanted (and have achieved) is getting rid of a list of zillions of red-links that had not been created for years. If you feel like further sorting out the article, please go ahead. What I have also pointed out elsewhere: adding communities which have differences in teaching is probably worth more than listing other churches that only differ by having a different partiarch, because they are in a different country.--Eptalon (talk) 20:53, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ideas for work[change source]

Recently, we got rid of a listing of Eastern Orthodox Churches which consisted mainly of red links. Those churches that had articles are given in a list (of currently about ten) links. If anyone wants to work in this area, please be aware of the following:

  • Do not add an item on a community to the list if you are not at least also willing to provide a stub on the community.
  • Communities with disagreements in teaching are probably more interesting than those who only have a different partiarch.
  • We do not need a complete listing of all possible communities; be bold and group those with similar views / history.

This is a small wiki, do not rely on the fact that another editor has the knowledge to corss-check what you add. --Eptalon (talk) 21:36, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
