Binomial name[change source]

How come under "Binomial name" section of the taxobox, it says "Linnaeus, 1988" even though Carolus Linnaeus was long dead before 1988, and could not name the genus of a cobra in his coffin? Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 23:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe because it refers to Linnaean taxonomy, not to Carolus Linnaeus himself? Phaedriel - 23:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No it actually refers to the person who personally named the species, in this case Linnaeus. The problem is that our version is based of the en:wp page which was vandalized in August 2006 and no one caught it (the person self-reverted all but the naming date of the edit in question). I corrected both our version and the en:wp version to the correct year (1758). -- Creol(talk) 14:54, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
