Discovery[change source]

The electron was the first particle that was discovered that was considered to be a part of the atom. the electron is a negatively charged particle. It was discovered to be an electrostatically charged particle that would move through a highly evacuated space under the influence of an electrostatic field. it was considered by Thompson to be the fundamental mass particle that had a negative electric charge. Later experiments determined that another particle of the atom had an equal amount of a positive electric charge but had 1836 times the mass of the electron. It was finally determined in 1932 that the atom also had a third mass particle called a neutron. The protons and neutrons of the atom are supposed to be accumulated into a very small space in the center of the space controled by the forces of the atomic nucleus, and the electron is supposed to be located in the outer space and control the chemical activities of the atom and it's combinations with other atoms to form molecules.
