What is the =/= or =\= Sign called?[change source]

And how come it doesn't have a page? 204.111.82.103 (talk) 11:36, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updates - Starting with Approximately Signs[change source]

I found this page while Googling 'equals sign with squiggle on top'. Don't ask me why the word tilde didn't pop into my head at first. Because it's coming up in such a search - and it originally didn't have the symbol I was looking for - I added some more 'approximate' symbols, and linked to the full English Wiki for those who might want more details on the other uses of those symbols. I thought it was important to note that they had other uses, without trying to explain those (very complex) uses on this page. I rearranged the text to accommodate those changes, and added some more Simple English links to terms I felt could use more explanation.

I think there are few more things that could be added to this article, so I'm adding this to my Wiki to-do list, to look for other improvements to make.

Also this is my first significant edit to Simple English - I discovered it entirely based on the Google search above. Writing strictly in Basic English is something that I struggle with, but wish to improve upon for multiple reasons. I will also try to write my Talk page comments in Basic English where I can, but that may be even more difficult in some cases. Please let me know of ways where you think I can do better.
