"Some knights from Dalmasca tried to rescue him, but one of the leaders of the knights, Basch, killed another knight named Reks, and king Raminas of Dalmasca. Reks was only 17 years old."

It is my understanding from playing this game that it was Baschs twin brother, a 'Judge' who was in fact the murderer and not Basch ? This fact born out during a cutscene after Vaan has tried to assault Basch for supposedly murdering his brother and the king.
