Official Colors?[change source]

Should we adapt the official colors from the International Commission of stratigraphy? You can put your comment below, yes or no and/or reason for yes and no. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 20:05 07 April 2013 (UTC) 4:05pm 04/07/2013 EST.

The timeline template to me without the colors looks dull to me. I cannot wait for the consensus to arrive. So I went and added the colors. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 22:01 10 June 2013 (UTC) 6:01pm 06/10/2013 EST.

Serious problems[change source]

There are some major problems here - the Earth is not 8 million years old! I'm very concerned. Plus, this is not at all in simple style. I'm tempted to pull the plug on this page entirely and start from scratch. I'll try to attack this some time. DanHobley (talk) 02:37, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't start from scratch. Leave the tables, templates, other pages, and references stuff alone. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 22:00 14 April 2013 (UTC) 6:00pm 04/14/2013 EST.
8 million, or billion or whatever, are gone. Big words and, more important, complex grammar, remain. Jim.henderson (talk) 13:30, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is a very bad page, far too complex, and much worse than its brother on English wiki. It confuses historical geology with the history of geology, which is a separate issue. So I'm going to make some radical changes, and later start a separate page for History of Geology. Thank you for your comments above. Macdonald-ross (talk)
I think the patient is much better now, hope you all like it. In passing, I'll mention that a few non-simple words are necessary in the annotations, due to lack of space and reasons which are common to all science pages. There are links for the interested to follow up ideas. I will put up a History of Geology page sometime in the next week or so.
