Would a rocket be a good description in place of a bike? It would be more true, but might not be as clear. What do you guys think? -Kingreaper (talk) 12:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reformed the dates to reflect sources and En wiki practice. From now on, any undiscusssed changes to those dates will be treated as vandalism. Macdonald-ross (talk) 06:43, 23 August 2014 (UTC) man you talk to much[reply]

Newton's alchemy[change source]

Hi,

I apologize if my formatting and/or lack of citations is problematic here. This is my first contribution to Wikipedia.

I wanted to suggest that the title of "Alchemist" be added to Newton's title. The reason for this is because, as noted in the article, much of Newton's work was in alchemy. Although the field has fallen out of popularity, the fact remains. It is the same for astrology practitioners. Thoughts on this?

I also wanted to take up the following passage under "Fame:"

"Newton was relatively modest about his achievements, writing in a letter to Robert Hooke in February 1676..."

The rivalry between Hooke and Newton is well-documented. Although the following is not a scholarly source, it iterates the well-known facts of Newton's rivalry with Hooke: http://jqtil.blogspot.com/2012/03/isaac-newton-was-jerk.html

Given this, I don't think that we ought to use Newton's pejorative at Hooke as exemplary of his modesty. It is quite contradictory to read the line I've highlighted and then to read underneath it about how it was likely a dig at Hooke.

Thank you.

Removing "Old Style" dates[change source]

Most people are not familiar with Old Style and New Style dates. So they cannot realize what is the real date. For example, the death of Newton in Infobox writes, "20 March 1726/7 (aged 84) [OS: 20 March 1726 NS: 31 March 1727]" For this, people will think 20 March 1726 is right, even though 31 March 1727 is right. So I want to remove the "Old Style" dates. Sorry for the complex English.
