Cleanup[change source]

This article is a mess, and before I get to it, I'd like to see what others think about the lists of famous jazz musicians. Should it be moved to a new article List of famous jazz musicians, trimmed, or deleted? Kansan (talk) 01:20, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've never really been a fan of lists, because they really can't be comprehensive.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 01:23, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually thinking about just starting over, using a version of the page on English as a guide. This is mostly a personal essay at this point anyway. Kansan (talk) 13:00, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As Gordonrox24 says, lists can be a problem. If we do decide to stay with a list, a Navbox might work better.
This brings up a category issue. Take Ornette Coleman for example. He has Category:American jazz musicians and Category:Saxophonists (among others). The problem is, if someone is looking for jazz saxophonists, there is no list or category for them. Category:Saxophonists contains Bill Clinton, who is not a jazz musician. Having a list or navbox could help with this problem.--The Three Headed Knight (talk) 15:20, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A navbox might be a good idea. Perhaps most ideal would be to mention the most famous/influential musicians in the context of the article instead of as one long list. Kansan (talk) 15:58, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
