La Question Jurassienne[change source]

Hello all. The creation of the canton was one thing that was supposed to solve what is known regionally as la question jurassienne (The question about the Jura). To sum it up very roughly:

  • There is (now) the Canton of Jura (French speaking, mostly Catholic). Some people, most of them in the Groupe belier (belier: male sheep) want that what is known as Bernese Jura joins the canton.
  • There is the Bernese Jura (Mostly protestant, also French speaking). Some separatists want to reunite all the French-speaking parts, under the Canton of Bern, they are known as Groupe sanglier (sanglier: Boar)

After the three votes, there are communes that change from Jura to Bern, those that change from Bern to Jura, those that Change from Bern to Basel Landschaft; there also was a Swiss-wide vote whether a village of 70 people (5km from Delemont) could join the canton of Jura...

There have been various votes, and acts of sabotage/terrorism since then. As of 2007, there is a special committee who should study the different options, that is a reunification (as one canton), a unification (two half-cantons), and the status quo (two cantons working together).

Those capable of reading French should probably read fr:Question jurassienne. (Please note this is a gross oversimplification, do not quote me on it.

My personal opinion about this is, that we should probably put some of the things mentioned into this article. What do others think? --Eptalon 21:19, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
