Working on improvements[change source]

First, I see that you included some things here (pictures with captions, a Commons link) that you didn't include in the first draft of your previous articles -- bravo!

I also see that you included attribution here. That's good, but it needs to point to the specific version of the enwiki article. Right now it just points to the current version. If the article on enwiki changes, we still want the attribution here to point to the version that you used. This same change should be done for the Ixelles Ponds article. There is some information on how to get the link to the correct version at WP:Transwiki attribution#Finding the version number.

As far as improvements, here are some things this article needs that we talked about while working on the previous article. Keep these things in mind, because you should check them in all articles.

  • Link all the important terms. There are some here that are not linked.
  • Add categories.
  • The last sentence is about two things -- the fact that the abbey church is Catholic, and the fact that parts of the monastery are used by other organization. Split the last sentence into two sentences.
  • Watch for non-simple words. The word "prestigious" is not simple.

Here are some items specific to this article:

  • I would use the same name (either "La Cambre Abbey" or "Abbaye de la Cambre") for the article title and in the first sentence. You could do something like this in the first sentence:
La Cambre Abbey (French: Abbaye de la Cambre) is a former...
  • Take the word "located" out of the second sentence. It isn't needed, and the sentence will be simpler. The word "located" is almost never needed.
  • Take the word "first" out of the third sentence. To "found" something means to start it, so it already means the beginning. Note: the verb "to found" is not related to the verb "to find". They are often confused because the past tense of "to find" is "found". However, they are different ideas.
  • "Catholic" should be capitalized.
  • Other websites section:
    • This section should go after the references section.
    • As per WP:Manual of Style#Sections and headings, only the first word in most section headings should be capitalized, so "Websites" should be in lower case here.
    • The item in the "Other websites" section should be bulleted, even though there's only one item.
  • The reference should be formatted instead of being a "bare URL". Best would be to use a citation template such as {{cite web}}. Second best would be use format it as an external link.

Take care of what you can from all that, and let me know what questions you have. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:52, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed it! Sorry for not replying or doing anything, I was very busy in the first week of work and didn't find time to come here. I did everything you told me to do. If there is still anything to do please tell me. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 12:41, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem about the delay -- you can decide how fast or slowly this should go.

The article is looking pretty good! A few of the things above are still not done:

  • A couple of important things still aren't linked -- Ixelles and Brussels. Make sure the Brussels link is to the region, not the city.
  • Add categories. You could have categories for what the subject of the article is, where it is, and when it was founded.
  • The item in the "Other websites" section should be bulleted, even though there's only one item.
  • The reference should be formatted instead of being a "bare URL". Best would be to use a citation template such as {{cite web}}. Second best would be to format it as an external link.

If you don't know how to take care of any of those, let me know what kind of help you'd like with it. Also let me know if you disagree about any of them. If you have decided you're not going to do some of them, just let me know so I don't keep bringing it up.

Here are a couple of new things.

  • Instead of one link for Catholic church (which redirects to Catholic Church), use separate links, or link only one of the terms. The reason is that the article Catholic Church is about the Catholic religion, not about a church building. In this article, we're talking about a building.
  • When you split the last sentence, you made it sound like there are three things: the geographical institute headquarters, something called "La Cambre", and a visual arts school. "La Cambre" is the name of the visual arts school, so there are really only two things. This wording needs to be fixed.

By the way, after the article is live, please remember to link it in Wikidata to the other-language versions. I did the link for Ixelles Ponds.

OK, take care of what you can from that, and get back to me here. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:43, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I tried using the cite web thing but it didn't work. Can you explain how it wworks. I did all the other things. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 08:00, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That was a good effort on the categories! I changed the "1201" category to "1201 establishments", because that's more specific. I also added a category about where the abbey is. When you pick categories, it's good to have a category about where the subject is, if it's something that has a location.

It looks like you took care of everything but putting a bullet on the item in the "Other websites" section. Just put an asterisk right in front of the link there.

The {{cite web}} template gives you a way to specify some standard information about a web site used as a reference. Here's some basic syntax that you can use as a base:

{{cite web | url = | title = | date = | accessdate = }}

Fill in values after the equal signs for each of the parameters. Use the result instead of the URL that is currently inside the <ref></ref> tags. There are other parameters you could use, but these would be enough here. You can look at the template documentation if you want more information on what each parameter is.

Questions? --Auntof6 (talk) 08:46, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. If you think it's ready please tell me so I can move the page to the normal title. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 11:22, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's not quite what I meant about using the citation template. When I'm back on my main PC later, I will change it myself to give you an example. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:13, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I made the change. Take a look at it to be sure you understand how it works, and let me know if you have any questions. I think it's ready to go to articlespace now. After you move it, be sure to do the Wikidata interwiki linking. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:44, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing the citation template and for helping me improve my article creating skills. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 07:51, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
