can you give me information on what dentists do and what their job roles are?

Dentists tend to the health of teeth, gums, and the mouth. They are usually trained in denistry at an oral health school. I am not an expert on the issue though. I just happened to come to this article.

You can read the article on dentist in EN Wikipedia. Prime Contributer (talk) 12:51, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doctors who specialize on the eyes are refered to here as optometrists. That is not correct. Optometrists are people who specialize in correcting vision errors. Ophthalmologists are doctors who specialize on diseases of the eye. This should be changed.69.122.62.231 (talk) 14:30, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriately reverted edit[change source]

Someone reverted a perfectly valid edit which clarifies that "Doctors" are not limited to being Medical Doctors. In fact, the term is a regulated degree designation which is applied to many varied types of practitioners, as well as those with academic degrees who even don't treat people at all. The term "physician" is regulated by the laws of all States, and many foreign countries, and the vast majority include Doctors of Chiropractic, the holders of a "first professional degree", as "Physicians" (see Joint Commission Definition of "Physician"). It's absurd, and patently untrue, to disinform people looking here, by allowing them to believe that the only "Doctors" are those possessing an MD degree.
