Someone has brought to my attention that a paragraph in this article could be "spam, soapboxing or both". What are some views on this? --Gwib -(talk)- 19:18, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It does not to seem to be especially notable information. The pope meets with many people pushing any one of these such meetings would seem to imply importance to them that would border on POV issues. Were notable changes to occur due to a meeting or something major to happen, then sure, note that, but to note every meeting he has? or to single out just one for mention?-- Creol(talk) 19:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I editing down a lot of spam related to that paragraph. What I left was a basic news story. Useful at the time to show that the Roman Catholic and Muslim faiths will speak. The links to the actual information have been kept rather than allow a lot of praise for and spam by the cleric. Nothing though seems to have come of the meeting. I have not been able to trace any papal or curial results--Bärliner 19:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just a quick thought - Zakir Naik, who apparently asked for dialogue, is not the most "notable" of people, for lack of a better phrase. His article on EN Wiki seems to show that, so perhaps the section should be removed MindTheGap (talk) 19:31, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(outdent) As the one who brought this to attention, let me add that I should be a little more cautious when describing the motives of whomever added that paragraph. That said, in any event ask yourself if that information should be deemed to be 20% of the entire article? I propose to post the content here on the talkpage, removing the "to see his invitation, look here" text (although keeping the references and applying them to the previous sentence), and reintroducing it after the article is more fleshed out. Pronunciation[change source]

Hey guys. The article says that he was born as Joseph Alois Ratzinger but the sound file showing the pronunciation says Joseph Kardinal Ratzinger. Any ideas as to why that is?--Gordonrox24 | Happy Holidays! 02:07, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The sound file is incorrect. Cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church are typically addressed as "First name Cardinal Last name" as opposed to their real full names. While he was born as "Joseph Alois Ratzinger", he went as "Joseph (K)Cardinal Ratzinger" from his elevation to the College of Cardinals. Hope this makes sense. :) ···Katerenka (討論) 02:09, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Should the sound file be removed then?--Gordonrox24 | Happy Holidays! 02:14, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed it as it isn't exactly helpful. Thanks for pointing this out. ···Katerenka (討論) 02:15, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--Gordonrox24 | Happy Holidays! 02:16, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
