May not be a good example[change source]

The key lime may not be a good example of a biological race. It is a cross or hybrid between two different species (C. micrantha x C. medica), rather than a race within one species. The term is not well-defined because it is not a formal botanical name.

Formal botanical names are governed by the rules of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), which in July 2011 replaced the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN). Names of cultivated plants are governed by the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP).
