General parameters[change | change source]

  • Each group of items above is optional.
    • You may include an image with no caption, but a caption will not be shown if there is no image.
    • To hide the locator dot, leave locator_x and locator_y blank
  • The IUCN category must be one of the following (case-sensitive): Ia, Ib, II, III, IV, V, or VI.
  • For coordinates (nb. irrelevant for location map), use {{coord}}, with display=inline, title.
  • Wiki links [[]] are fine in any of the Infobox fields except IUCN category and coordinates.
  • Include the HTML comments before and following the template; they help inexperienced editors.
  • Please spend some time at the Protected Areas WikiProject article and its talk page for standards on presenting names and other data.

Coordinates-based location map parameters[change | change source]

When using the location_map, lat and long parameters, you can easily replace the map with another that has a closer or looser perspective. It uses the standard Wikipedia {{Location map}} series of templates; see particularly Category:Australia location map for choices. (The prefix "Location map" is added automatically, so if the template is named Template:Location map Australia Victoria highways, type "location_map = Australia Victoria highways".

  • The lat and lon parameters are in decimal format, and the southern hemisphere is negative.

Pixel-based location map parameters[change | change source]

  • locator_x and locator_y are the number of pixels to offset the locator dot from the left and top edges of the base map. Note: there is a 3px y-axis difference between Internet Explorer and Firefox.

To assist in quickly finding the right x and y coordinates for the locator dot, this map is provided as a reference:
