Trachea

The Trachea is a tube or a system of tubes, to transport gases.
- in vertebrates, it connects the mough to the lungs, see vertebrate trachea
- in land-living invertebrates, the trachea is a system of channels to provide air to the different body parts, see invertebrate trachea
- Plants have specialized tissue in the xylem vessel, that provides this function, see Vessel element. In plants, water is transported, not air.
