The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a public, coeducational university in Charlotte, North Carolina. The university has about 24,700 students. It was founded in 1946. The current chancellor of the university is Dr. Phillip L. Dubois.

The athletics teams of the university are called the Charlotte 49ers. They have 16 varsity teams and they compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference (A10). In July 2013, the 49ers will leave the A10 to join Conference USA.
