                    Sir Francis Drake 

Life: Sir Francis Drake was born in Tavistock, Devon 1540 and went to sea at an early age. In 1567 he made one of the first English slaving voyages led by his cousin John Hawkins bringing African slaves to work in the “New world.” Spanish became a big enemy for Drake and in turn the considered pirate. He died on the 28th of January.

Marriage, Family: Drake married a lady, Mary Newman in 1569 ( Died 12 years later at the age of 58 ) 1585 Drake married Elizabeth Sydenham- Born in Circa 1562-Her child was Sir George, High Sherriff of Somerset.

Voyage Drake went on his first voyage with John Hawkins at about the late 1550 s. He sailed in the tiger across the Bay of Biscay to the North-east coast of Spain to trade. He also made lot of money. He sailed to Caribbean and sold slaves there and had them cleaned before.

Sailing: At age 23, Drake made his first voyage to the Americans with his second cousin John Hawkins. Drake wanted to sail his whole life. When he was 25 years old, he took 4 ships and 120 men on the voyage he was on his way to Caribbean as slave trade with John Hawkins. Spaniard destroyed one of his ships. Drake was on a fierce storm.
